We head Down Under to WA for our last Windwise session of 2018
We're incredibly fortunate to be finishing 2018 with a 'quick' visit to WA. It's has been a little while since we've been so far south, but with many local requests to return, and also a good excuse to visit Severne to try out some new kit, we add a last minute trip to Perth. We've just run a really great Freeride session on the Swan River at Melville Waters with full planning conditions on both days and fully engaged and committed ex-pats and Aussies giving it everything. We're now heading North to Lancelin for our Freewave session.....
As ever, we get such a wonderful welcome from everyone we meet in Oz. It's so good to see many regular faces and meet new Perth windsurfers on our travels. There isn't a city in the world that has quite such amazing windsurfing right next to the commercial district and close to prime residential areas.
Perfect Perth....The Swan River Delivers
We headed to Melville Waters in the Swan River for our first session for the shallow flat water which provides the perfect flat pitch to master all the freeride skills. It's in the corner of the river with very protected water, which produces table flat water and plenty of places to stand - Bit like combining Bonaire with Poole harbour! We had two fabulous days training with fab wind on both days and a really enthusiast local crew working through our Skills Training System. Our Windwise 'Warrior' ethos for fast tacks, dry gybes and all funky moves has now travelled the whole of the globe. It was really well adopted by the city sailors as we worked through more controlled blasting and our Warrior fast tacks, carving gybes and more. Great work everyone and I hope that all our core skills, Touch Points, Opposition, Vision and that committed 'Warrior' has set you up for a great season ahead! Don't forget those 'Rig@ 90' & Warrior Exercises - look forward to next time and seeing some of you in 'Lano'.
25 degrees & 25 knots on your doorstep after work.
Here's Steve Pickles giving the Dyno 105L & 5.3m Blade what they love most.... A damn good turn!
Mark Rheinlander out foxes the Fox 120L through yet another gybe!
A couple missing from this photo, but thanks to all of you who joined us at the weekend!
Here's some more shots of the Perth crew.
Thanks to Severne for the use of the new Fox 120 and Dyno 105, plus a van full of Blades, Gators & NCX's!
Big thanks to Jez at 2nd Wind for letting us share his Melville 'office'. If you're looking to learn to windsurf he runs a great school and also stocks some great Severne kit too!
We plan to return to Melville and the Swan River in the future, so drop us an email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to register for first shout on places!
