2016 is the tenth anniversary of many things that we loved (and still love!) from way back in 2006.
Let’s just take a while to feel old… ahem, I mean, revisit some of our fave things that are turning 10 this year (although nostalgia aint what it used to be!)
There was a revolution in global communication, with Facebook, originally exclusively for Harvard students, opening access to anyone aged 13 or over.
Launched in July 2006, Twitter also turns 10 this very month! Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular modes of communication in today’s digital world.
Justin Timberlake came back after a two-year hiatus with his second album, “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” on September 8th 2006.
Multiple Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift released her first studio album, entitled ‘Taylor Swift’ on October 24th 2006. She was only 16 at the time.
On October 27th, Amy Winehouse released her second and last studio album “Back to Black”. The album won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2008.
Nintendo WII turns 10 this year! At the time of its launch on November 19th 2006, the seventh-generation Nintendo Wii game console competed with Microsoft’s XBox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3. Its successor, the Wii U, was released in 2012.
For the film buffs among you, the X Men had their last stand, Pixar had their last stand as an independent producer with ‘Cars’ before Disney took over, and the High School Musical kids were screaming ‘What Team?’
What could possibly be the Top 10th of the Top 10 10th Anniversaries?
Can you believe that it is 10 years since Allan Cross’ inception of an Event for ordinary, intermediate windsurfers led to a mixed bunch of abilities and a history lesson of the development of windsurfing kit taking to the water at Hayling Island. This was the first National Windsurfing Festival and Fat Face Night Windsurf. This has now grown to become The National Watersports Festival and is a firm favourite on the watersports calendar.
With entertainment for all the family throughout the weekend and the usual roll call of everyone who’s anyone in windsurfing, including World Freestyle Champrion Dieter van Eyken, come and see for yourself what this 10th Anniversary Special can deliver!
