Julien Mas FRA-7 reports:——————————–
This year Podersdorf was definitely not the best event for me. For the first time in my windsurf career I had to discover what it means to lose the control over your body, to feel no strength in your arms and to be hit by pain attacks every two minutes… and there is nothing you can do against it.
About 6 weeks ago I injured my back muscles on Bonaire – probably due to the intensity of my training. Unfortunately, I didn’t immediately understand how serious that blow damaged my body, otherwise I would have started to rest and recover instead of continuing with my training!
Gradually the pain was increasing and I could move my arm less and less. So, I went to see doctors and physiotherapists to try to get me fixed on time for PWA Podersdorf, but in the end no therapy, no massage, no needle and no painkiller could take the pain away or relax my muscles.
Nevertheless, I decided to sail my heats as it would have been too frustrating to train one winter season for an event, to finally have wind but then not even to try!
Anyway… Now, I’m back in France and will make sure to do everything I need to be on top on my form for the next event. I learned something new about my body, about the way you need to take care and listen to it; which also includes taking enough time to rest and recover!
As I know that I can fully rely on my perfect JP board and my amazing Avanti sail, I prepared a little joke-outfit for the Tow-In… just to be sure to always keep on smiling!
