The freestyle teamriders from Severne did a great job this year on the PWA tour, for the first time ever there are 2 severne riders in the top 5 rankings with Amado Vrieswijk leading the pack with a 4th place in front of Dieter Van der Eyken who finishes 5th for a second year in a row. Rick didn't have his best season but still has a good chance to finish top 5 in the EFPT rankings. Read what they have to say about the event and what there plans are for the upcoming month's.
4th place on the overall and another really close heat against Golito almost stopping him from his 6th world tittle, how do you look back on this year with your first poduim place in Bonaire and a top 5 finish on your second year doing the whole tour?
I'm really happy with my 2014 results. A good step up since last year, but I'm not there yet. The heat against Gollito was really really close, and could have changed a lot if the outcome was in my advantage, but overall super satisfied. It felt great to be on the PWA stage for the first time in my short carreer. My goal was top 5 at the beginning of the season, next year it is top 3.
Will you also still compete on the EFPT in the south of France or will you concentrate on training for 2015.
When I arrive back home I will decide if the EFPT in Six Four Plages is a go due to school and work responabilities. But I definetely want to be there, so I will do my very best to get everything arranged.
A shared 5th place in Sylt and a second year a 5th place on the worldtour in Freestyle, happy with the season? You also won your Trails heat in Wave and got close to beat Marcilio Brown in the first round, a future plan to join the wave as well?
I’m really happy to keep my 5th place from last year to confirm my spot in the top 5! But with how I sailed during my competition I’m less stoked, I couldn’t really show what I learned over the winter and in sylt especially the overall was more in my mind than actually sailing the heat. But in the end everything worked out and kept my spot. About my wave competition I’m more than stoked, the conditions where really hard but it went really good and to get close to kick out Marcilio Brown feels pretty good, hopefully I can do more wave events next year!
There is still one EFPT lined up for the end of the year is really there, will you be joining and what is your goal after your 9th place finish at the beginning of the year in Podersdorf?
Yes I will be heading to the EFE event for the 3th year in a row together with my teammate Amado we will drive up together (which should be good fun as its probably the longest drive he ever did). I don’t have much left in the overall so will just go for one thing to win and have a lot of fun doing so!
Now Sylt is over the PWA season is officially finished what is your plan for the upcoming winter to prepare yourself better for the 2015 season?
For me it was not the best year on the pwa tour, i had a hard time mentally and my level was not that good also! I had to finish my school so couldn’t travel for 6 months and I think that killed me. It all gave me a lot of work but now its finished so i will train harder then ever for the upcoming year!
I set my goals and I will go for it!
In the EFPT you still have a 5th place from Podersdorf on the overall what is your plan here looking toward the last EFPT end of this month, any goals for the overall?
It’s the last event of the year and I feel already more fit then one month ago, so i will do my best and lets see the result! I want to keep the 5th place! This would give me highest overall ranking in the EFPT till now and would make up a bit for the PWA season!
