After 5 years I can finally say I have walked up Lions Head, twice! Our friend Andy Buchanan passed away from a lengthy battle with cancer and as we weren’t able to make his funeral in the UK we had the plan to take the walk up on the morning instead and remember the good times.

After leaving at 4am and making the start of the climb in the dark to make the sunrise we were left stunned with the amazing view.

Once you make it to the top it is total silence, one side is the view of the ocean and the city the other is a look at the sun slowly rising over table mountain. The perfect setting to enjoy the morning and a few thoughts of the legend, Andy Buchanan.

I spent some awesome windsurfing trips down in Cornwall with Andy and his brother Ed and is so sad to have lost a friend at this point in his life. Nevertheless he lived it to the max and all our thoughts are with Ed and the family. Miss you mate.
