Earlier this year I travelled to India for the first time with the goal to set out and capture some images during the Holi festival. As a filmmaker it was going to be tough.. packed crowds, paint, water and all round general mayhem.

And yes, it was tough but a pretty mind-blowing experience nonetheless. The crowds were very intense and it was obviously hard to not stand out, being an Englishman with a camera, which also made us a target for water and paint. During the 4 days it was very much stepping into the unknown. There was no recce for the temples, we jumped in a tuk tuk and went to our planned filming spot for the day with nothing but a camera.

Everything was shot on a pre production Lumix S1 and 24-105mm as well as the Ronin S and an Outex water housing. We even gave our guide a quick crash course on how to fly the DJI Mavic 2 that we brought who was a natural and got a few extra shots for us to add from the trip. The images have been used as part of the launch of the Lumix S1 campaign so you'll see more content over there. The S1 was perfect for this type of project. Inside amongst the crowds everything was handheld and inside a water housing where I quickly switched between filming and photos.
