15th nov.2015 i went speedsurfing down south of the country with my friend Alex.
We took off in the early morning for this breaking (personal) records speedsession.
As i dont do much speedsurfing, because im wavesailing all the time, i was happy to see finally some PR's after all these years on the GPS.
I used an mXr Rockstar speed 48 combined with a brandnew widebased Maui Ultra Fin Speed/02 20cm. Both i had not used before. This combination rocks for sure. The first lap i was close to my PR. The 2nd run i smashed my PR, all the runs after i broke my Prs continuesly. I did 8 runs. Not much, i had some seriously difficulties.
I had 2 serious crashes at top speed. I cant remember that i have crashed so hard before.
Im glad i took some safety precautions. I did wear my helmet and crash/impactvest.
The battery from my Gopro was empty just before the crashes. It would of been fun to see afterwards what went wrong. The first crash was quite intense. I got dizzy and needed time to recover. My body flipped over 3 times bouncing over the chop. My equipment was not damaged. 2 runs later, i had another hard crash which was my fault. I didnt had the strenght anymore to hold onto the boom and let my front hand go at 78kmh.
I crashed so hard that my 2 footstraps came loose and my harnesslines broke off. But my boom (Al360) was still luckily in one piece. My arms were tired from all the wavesailing earlier in that week. Time to stop and hit some waves at the beach.
Just one of those days, you have to do it all.
& if you can, why not!
