GRAN CANARIA PWA WORLD CUP 2019

The windsurfing world boils in anticipation, as we’re now just a week away from the start of the annual PWA Wind and Waves Festival in Pozo, Gran Canaria!

The windsurfing place to be – Gran Canaria

The picturesque spot is located in the Santa Lucia area. Called El Arenal by the locals, the beach is one of the windiest places in the world. On a typical day, the strong wind blowing on left side-shore requires the riders to use sails between 2.8 and 4m. For those hungry for waves, they are generally no less than 1 meter and even 3 meter monsters are not uncommon. Pozo is the perfect place for advanced windsurfers looking for big airtime jumps and new-school freestyle.

PWA World Tour 2019

The event taking place between the 12th and 20th of July will be the first Wave event in the the PWA World Tour 2019. Among the contestants you’ll find such wave legends as Victor Fernandez, Ricardo Campello and last year’s winner Philip Köster!

The winning heat has gained Köster 37.89, putting him ahead of Campello and Marcilio Browne. However, as the current leader of the PWA Wave ranking, Victor Fernandez might stop him from repeating his last year’s victory.

Where to watch?

PWA provides full coverage of the event in their online stream, so you won’t miss a single heat! So tune in to the broadcast and share the excitement with your friends at the local spot. Because the World Tour is in Pozo again, and it’s about to get hot!
