Rider: Enrico Marotti CRO-401
ENRICO MAROTTI CRO-401Right from the first race the Croatian rider sailed flawless and started with a bullet. Enrico managed to maintain his high level of sailing and in the end he won 4 of the 5 counting eliminations and came 3rd one time which brought him the clear lead in this event and the gold medal !
Enrico summarizes:“It was great week full of racing and slalom action. Cold and rainy weather in combination with strong gusty wind brought really tough and challenging conditions. We were competing in winds from 10 to 35 knots. My JP/NP gear works amazingly in a huge wind range and I felt really comfortable to sail in all kinds of conditions! My preparation was good, I train hard and set my equipment to work perfectly. So I knew that if I’d concentrate on sailing I can do good. All week I pushed myself to focus on my sailing and to believe in myself and my abilities. I managed to do that and the result speaks for itself.”..Rider: Sebastian Kornum DEN-24
SEBASTIAN KORNUM DEN-24The secret to success of the young Dane was his consistency on a super high level: in all but one of his counting eliminations he finished amongst the top-3: 1x 2nd, 3x 3rd and 1x 4th resulted in bronze !Positioned in 4th or 5th position during most of the event, Sebastian’s strong finish catapults him onto the podium.
DEN24 comments:“It is a huge accomplishment to finish 3rd in the IFCA Slalom World Championships. I fought 5 days non-stop for this position, and that makes it feel even better. I still cannot believe that I made it in the end!It takes a lot for the body and mind to race that intensely for 5 days in a row. I woke up every day during the event, ready to perform my best despite a sore and exhausted body from the past day. The challenge of staying focused and motivated is what makes this sport really special for me.I have not trained so much slalom this year, but that is not a reason for not being fully committed and willing to achieve a great result. I think people didn’t expect much from me, but my personal goal was a top 5 coming into the event. But I was ready to do my best!A 3rd place finish gives a great motivational boost to move on with.”..Rider: Nico Prien GER-7
Nico Prien GER-7After a great start to the event and Nico was positioned in 3rd. During day 2 his foot started to hurt and the pain got stronger and stronger, so that the German rider worried he might to have stop competing. But he clenched his teeth, sailed on painkillers and in the end was surprised and happy at the same time that he managed to maintain his 5th place. After the event a doctor diagnosed a tendovaginitis and a 2-weeks break from sports and sailing.
Zum Glück nichts zu dramatisches, allerdings muss ich für 1-2 Wochen pausieren.“..Rider: Pierre Macquaert FRA-945.CONGRATULATIONS to the whole JP team and their great performance !
