PRINCE OF SPEED24-year old speed surfer Vincent Valkenaers takes World Speed Record on the Nautical Mile with 42.23 knots

On 21 July, the Belgian speed surfer Vincent Valkenaers took the world speed record on the nautical mile. He was participating in the Prince of Speed competition organized by Andrea Baldini on the beach of La Rouet in La Palme (FR).

Vincent only needed three attempts to make a faster mile then famous windsurfing champion Björn Dunkerbeck, and this with an average speed of 42.23 knots (78,22 km/h). His times where made official by the WWSSC (World Wide Speed Surfing Counsil).Vincent says that the base was a lot of practice which took him that far, but also the nice sails of NeilPryde and the JP Speed boards.

In November, Vincent intends to fight for the Belgian and the 500m World Record at the Lüderitz Speed Challenge in Namibia.
