Team 15 Event 1 Scotland

Last Sunday saw the first Team 15 interclub event of 2018, hosted by the Clyde Barracudas at Lochwinnoch.

Upon arrival there was a real buzz about the place. Alongside our event there was a rowing regatta taking place, and in true windsurf fashion, our presence was felt as soon as we started to rig up. There may have been less of us however onlookers could not help but ask what was happening, being drawn in by the colours of the rigs and amazed by the size of our competitors who were putting them together.

Attending the race briefing alongside the hosts, were members of the Loch Insh Monstars and the Newborough Sea Gorillas all ready to get the lowdown on the days events.

The format for the event involved fleet racing (6.8, 5.8, 5.5, 4.5, 3.5) with a triangular course for those who could make it round. We also had a small fleet course with a sausage course format. We squeezed in seven races in total throughout the day with variations on the course.

As the conditions picked up the competitors became faster and everyone did amazingly to handle the new wind strength. All participants made real improvements throughout the day and energy levels remained up until we came off the water.

Thanks to all club members, parents and helpers on the day for all of their enthusiasm and hard work to make the first event of the series a success.
