At the Multivan Summer Opening, Sylt, 2018 the German Windsurfers were on form. At the Slalom Europeans the Germans claimed the podium. New Windsurfing Slalom European Champion is #WarpBoy Vincent Langer (GER-1).
After the first races it was already a big fight for the prestigious European title between Vincent, Gunnar and Nico. In the end it all came down to the last race and pressure was on. 2 premature starts were the result. Gunnar was pushing a lot and Vincent had to follow his tactic so that in the end both were over early.
So both contenders had to watch the final race from the beach but seeing Nico Prien – the door to the title was wide open for him, since he “just” needed to win the final with the 2 top riders Vincent and Gunnar disqualified – getting defended by young Frenchman Damien Cervera (FRA-422).
„Merci à France! Sometimes you need to have luck!“ Vincent said. „I had to be fully committed at the start and risk a premature start. Watching the fleet passively was horrible to me. Nico had everything in his hands. But the Frenchmen are very strong in these kind of conditions.”
Huge congrats to Vincent Langer for taking the title.
At the spectacular foil racing Vincent managed to finish in 3rd. Well done.
