Alix in Morocco

Alix Robert reports from his latest trip:——————————————————————–

This year I did not take my family but travelled with Daniel Stano to Morocco. Daniel is a windsurfer and photographer who took all the pictures and movies of this trip. From 6th to 13th May it was really a great to participate at the IWT contest: the spot of Moulay is very nice with good atmosphere, but unfortunately the conditions weren’t great.

Moulay is one of the World’s best locations for windsurfing which is great for jumping and “surfing” (to get up to 10 turns on one wave!). I used all my equipment there: my JP Thruster 102 and 95 partnered with sails from 5.8 down to 4.2 to cover the changing conditions. We had days of flat water with light wind, followed by the completely the opposite with 3 meter waves and 40 knots of wind. This is typical there in May while in June, the wind is more constant.

Towards the end of the day the conditions usually got better as the wind slightly eases off, the sun is less aggressive, the sets are cleaner and there are less people on the water. So, really everything to have fun and enjoy at the same time.

The village of Moulay sits in a nice, relaxed and slackened environment. The Moroccan people there are always very warm and cordial. It is a nice, sunny, and friendly place.

I like Moulay!
