Thruster, quad or twin, the UltraKode is the dream wave board by the Dream Wave Team, that weighs 400 to 500 grams lighter than a classic thruster. Comes with 4 x Starbox and one US box, as well as plugs to suit your fin set up. The new Starbox allows you to fit Slot Box fins in five seconds each, and remembers your last setting to get you on the water faster. It is also compatible with US box fins.

Starboard UltraKode 86 UltraCore Carbon: "An amazing all-rounder for all wave conditions"

Nonetheless, it is in the top-tier group when it comes to planing performance: the Starboard releases and gets planing freely and effortlessly - a solid base to get airborne with on the first ramp that comes your way. When it comes to waveriding, the UltraKode is very accessible and straight forward. It has the potential to keep speed through wind holes and flat sections as well as maintaining rail grip in bigger waves. This 86 does indeed need a bit more rail pressure to turn compared to the most radical boards of the test group but it is endlessly tuneable; fit it with a quad fin setup to achieve tighter turns. The Starboard offers all options: from a single fin setup to a quad setup. SURF Verdict: We cannot say the UltraKode 86 excels in any particular aspect, but sum them up and you get an amazing all-rounder, that works in all waves conditions, from Hawaii to Heiligenhafen [spot in Germany in the Baltic Sea]. The Starboard UltraKode will suit a vast majority of wave sailors around the world. +: All-rounder without any weak points, excellent accessories-: N/A |
