Last weekend I competed in the first event of the Student Windsurfing Association wave series. The event was hosted by University of Plymouth Windriders, and we sailed at Marazion. The wind on Saturday was disappointing, but on Sunday morning we were treated to 20 knots cross-onshore wind with some fun ramps. In my early heats, the wind was nice, and I managed to nail a forward and tabletop in each heat, although wave rides were hard to come by. By the final, the wind had dropped significantly. Luckily I found a gust early on to get my forward loop in, and could focus on waveriding for the rest of the heat. Sara Kellett was sailing really well, and landed a massive forward right in front of me, unfortunately I didn’t plane for the rest of the heat so couldn’t match it, but managed to make up for it with some good waverides, handing me the event victory!

My Kode 77 and Blade 5.0 were perfect, the board accelerates well for jumping and is good for slashy turns in little waves. The sail is insanely stable and controllable, allowing me to go full power and jump high! I can’t wait for the next event at Rhosneigr in Febuary, I hope the westerlies return before then though!
