The final day of the 2016 Tenerife PWA World Cup saw a thrilling finale with the top 10 sailors from the Super Session held on Friday qualifying for the Siam Park Dunkerbeck Extreme Jump Challenge on Sunday evening. For Fanatic Alessio Stillrich, Noah Voecker-Roche and Adam Lewis qualified.

During the show on Sunday night the 10 sailors were then given two runs each to produce their biggest and most radical move with the top 4 sailors progressing into the final and after some savage crashes and miraculous moves it was Fanatic´s Adam Lewis,  Dieter Van der Eyken and last year’s winner Ricardo Campello who secured the top 4 positions with a combination of sick Shifties, Paskos and Double Pushloops/Pushloop Shakas.

In the final the top 4 sailors were then asked to go as big as they possibly could with an air time jump off before being given a further 3 attempts to produce 2 different jumps with the highest combined total winning and it looked as though Antoine Martin was on course for victory after arching his way through a massive One-Handed Pushloop, while waving to the crowds to earn perfect 10s across the board. However, Adam Lewis, then produced a moment of magic as he rotated through an insane Double Air move to earn 36 points, which brought him level with Martin on 53 points.

With the two sailors tied on points the contest would be decided with a jump off in which Martin and Lewis were given a further 3 jumps with just their best effort counting — ensuring more radical action — including Martin snapping the tail of his board with his shin after a huge bailout. Lewis once again left his best effort until last and he stole the victory from the grasp of Martin with another perfectly executed Shifty/Double Pushloop to once again earn 36 points and with no more chances for Martin to reply the Brit was crowned the winner in front of a packed out crowd.

What a great result for our team, after Victor finishing 1st in the main contest now Adam also was on top of the podium during the Super Session – well done to all riders there!
