Severne Team Stephen Chatten Wells Norfolk

I am very lucky to be based in Norfolk and have numerous amazing spots to sail from which offer all sorts of different sailing conditions depending on the different wind directions.

Today we headed off to Wells next the Sea,(Norfolk) probably my all time favourite windsurfing location. Oh and what a day it was! Wells is such a beautiful place to sail when everything comes together and today it did just that.

When we got to the beach, I was amazed at the amount of sailors old and new that had turned up for the occasion. The forecast was showing the wind in a north, north westerly direction blowing force 5 and above. This had created a real buzz amongst our regulars to get out there and show off our stuff. This firstly required a bit of banter about kit sizes but eventually we made it onto the water at around 11am.

I had chosen my 5.7 Gator with a 106L Fanatic TXR. A perfect choice as I didn’t have to come in and change a thing! The Bay had everything on offer with flat water closer to shore to large rollers logo high on the bar giving a great variety to suit all the different types of windsurfers who showed up. It was amazing to have so many of us (20+) all there together enjoying the conditions and to have such a good time.

Everyone said it was the best days sailing they have had for a long time, and I’m sure there will be a few aches and pains tomorrow to show for our efforts. Here’s to hoping we have a few more sessions like that soon!

For anyone who has never been to sunny Norfolk or Well next the Sea, come and join us for an awesome time. It is a tidal bay which offers flat water and waves depending on wind direction and at high tide it’s only about 50 metres to the water’s edge from the car park so not at all far to have to carry your kit.
