The YGC is all about friendships and having fun in the water!The 60 young surfers entering the 2015 JP Young Gun Classic in Klitmøller, certainly got what they came for.

Some of the participants were only 7-8 years old and could hardly pull up a sail, but even they managed to make a dream come true and get their first experience in the Klitmøller waves. Others were more experienced and wanted to improve their wave riding or practice radical moves. 7 coaches, headed by Sebastian Kornum, gave out their best tips to the young guns and a group of parents, who got together in SUP sessions.

Sebastian:“It’s the 9th year in a row that we organize the JP Young Gun Classic, and it just gets better and better. Many families have been here several times, so there is lots of socializing already on the first day. People smile and have fun, and they are super helpful to each other. It is a true pleasure to be part of.We use a variety of spots in the area, but all meetings and the social dinners take place in Klitmøller. We meet in the mornings and usually split in 2-3 groups depending on the weather forecast for the day.”

“This year, the wind was quite calm most of the time, so we spent the first day having fun on SUP and a Jet Pack made by one of the parents. Later in the camp, we got excellent beginner conditions for wavesailing, and also good winds for slalom and formula. I spotted lots of talent around the young guns, and it’s going to be interesting to see them develop over the years. The good thing is that so many parents support their kids by joining the camp.”

Only few weeks ago, Klitmøller was crowded because of the action packed and colorful PWA event. During the JP Young Gun Classic, the scenery was set by the next generation, all dressed up in their JP-Australia camp jerseys, and with big smiles on their faces.
