Riccardo “Riki” Marca (ITA-988) left Sa Barra, the spot on Sant Antioco next to Sardinia for an intense summer trip. The 19 year old upcoming Italian freestyler – he participated in his first World Cup this season – got accompanied by his good friend Maxime Schmidt. They both travelled with their own van, what made everything easy. Absolute freedom! You can stop almost everywhere, have all your gear in the van plus food, a little bed or you even can sleep on the roof. They both decided to visit several world class freestyle spots: Malcesine and Al Pra at Lake Garda, where the famous “Vento” is on during many mornings. Vassiliki in the Ionian Sea in Greece, where thermal winds – sometimes quite strong – blow during the afternoon till night. Bol, a well known freeride spot with freestyle potential, on the island of Brac in Croatia. The wind blows there during the afternoon with 10 to 25 knots. Or Premantura in Istria, Croatia, where the “Bora” or the “Yugo” can kick in quite intense.
