It is a joy for us at NWF to witness the new breed of youth

fill our coastline and enter with bravery at our events. This year saw NWF introduce the light wind Windsurfing Freestyle scene punched out with an element of youth inclusion. With enthusiasm we were proud to find in our inbox a gratitude from a young freestyle rider whom punched his mark on the event. Congratulations to Lucas Meldrum from all at the NWF family and K66 uk NorthWindsurf Sails and Fanatic for riding and repping our brands and community so well.‘Hi my name is Lucas I am 14 years old and a mad windsurfer. This was the first time I came to the NWF and it was awesome. There is a really good atmosphere, lots of old faces around but it is also a great way to meet new people. Every one at the stands are all very nice and willing for you to try out their kit. There are so many events to take part in whether a windsurfer or super.

imageI entered in the windsurf adult light freestyle comp and it was really good, everyone was pushing each other to do bigger and better moves. The standard was a lot higher than I had expected but a somehow I reached the final on the first day and won! The second day was cool with pro judges such as Max Rowe and Nic Hibdige. It was a little harder with more wind and chop yet I managed to get to the overall final against Jack Pettit a fellow familiar BWA competitor. It was very tight but I am very happy to have won the overall event!

imageIn the future I would love to be able to compete around the world, windsurfing, suping and enjoying the water. The NWF gives you the chances to show of your skills and meet new people as well as having fun. It’s a great event that I would recommend to any Watersports addicts. I would like to say thank you to the organisers, who work very hard for it to happen and make it such an enjoyable experience.’Lucas Meldrum Brighton – East SussexFanatic – North Windsurf Sails – IONEditorial Source – Georgina Land K66uk
