I arrived early on Friday evening ready and well prepared for the 5th event, wanting so much to get a good result specialy after unfortunately missing rounds 3 and 4.

Unfortunately Saturday brought us no wind at all, but it was great to chill on the beach and  go for an ice cream, plus there was several demos on at the event meaning there was plenty to do during the day. The evening was then spent under clear blue skies with warm temperatures which was the prefect setting for a BBQ and a few beers of course Along with windsurf chat. ace.

Waking up then on Sunday morning we had wind and the game was on. There was light wind at first then building stronger an stronger during the day, going from 8.6m down to 7.0m. Within two rounds I was fully stacked on the 7m overdrive. I got some really good starts and progressed to the finals feeling so in control of these new sails from Severne.

We managed to get three rounds in during the day, and I ended up finishing 4th overall for the event after getting a DSQ in the second round for making contact with another sailor on the inside whilst gybing tight an hard into the bouy, but rules are rules so I’ll let it go and learn greatly from this event.

Many of us were amazed as to how much the condition built during the afternoon, the amount of chop made it very hard to keep speed and control over the course, harness lines fully extended to the max with my backside skimming the water. Looking back now over the event brings me a great smile on my face, this been my first year competing realising how much fun racing can be.

I’m so much now looking forward to the last remaining two events over at Tenby Wales before the final in Weymouth. I have to say if there’s anyone out there thinking of giving racing a try then do it, all the guys a girls on the tour are so helpful and friendly willing to help and give you advice where needed. So go on give it a go!
