Windsport got it's hand on the new Mountain Washer labeled as "the ultimate mobile power washer for dirty outdoor gear." Unless you rig and de-rig on a pristine grassy lawn every time you go sailing you are likely to accumulate some form of dirt or sand on your sail and other gear after every session. Rolling your sandy sail up not only scratches the film but it transfers the filth into your vehicle and garage making an even bigger mess to clean up down the road. Why not deal with that sand/dirt ASAP!... and this is why we were stoked to test the new Mountain Washer.
The Mountain Washer assembles in a snap (literally) with the few provided pieces fitting together easily. It's a compact and lightweight unit that's easy to transport in any vehicle. It comes with a long power cord to easily reach your vehicle's 12V power outlet and a long hose that will stretch the length of any size windsurfing sail you could ever dream of rigging up. It holds enough water to spray for 10-minutes of use, which is plenty for at least a couple sessions before refilling. So we see the Mountain Washer as a nicely put together package, but how well does it work for actually cleaning our gear.
The spray nozzle adjusts from a wide light mist to a decently powerful stream and we found it easily washed away the sand from our sail. There is not much more to say about the Mountain Washer's performance as it covered all the bases a windsurfer could ever want from cleaning every piece of gear to even showering off comfortably as well before changing out of our wetsuit. I don't know whether it's recommended by the manufacturer but we used warm water for an even nicer shower after a late season session! We recommend adding the Mountain Washer to your windsurfing gear quiver... it's a valuable tool that keep everything clean and tidy including yourself.
