Belgian Speed Record (open water) for North rider Patrick Van Hoof

Belgian "Speedster" Patrick Van Hoof just cracked the Belgian speed record on open water in La Franqui. Congratulations to this amazing performance: 91,044 km/h (49,16 knots), 500m of 82,56 km/h (44,58 knots) and 10 sec of 86,43 km/h (46,67 knots). Patrick:" During the Christmas holidays we were for 10days in La Franqui and we were lucky with the wind ;-) We sailed 7 out of 10 days with a strong tramontana. It was a good opportunity to test and trim the small sails together with the Falcon Speed 44 and 50 :-)Again I have the idea that for speed you must give the sail much more downhaul than the sign in the top of the sail. Sunday, the last day, we had great wind. First I was sailing with the 44 and 5,7.  When the wind picked up I took the 5,2. My first run with the 44-5,2 and the Sonntag Asy 20 was one I will never forget ! A max of 91,044km/h(49,16knots), 500m of 82,56km/h(44,58) and 10sec of 86,43km/h(46,67). In my max I was soooo close to one of the top Dutch riders.    This is by far the fastest speed in open water by a Belgian rider and I'm the first Belgian guy who went over 90km/h. In December I was already the first Belgian that did an Alpha 500m over 50km/h. After I changed the sail to the 5,2 it was a shame that the direction of the wind changed and there came rolling chop.  I'm sure the average speed would have been much faster. Anyway i'm super stoked with these speeds. I hope to repeat them in the future."
