Despite only 25-30 knots of wind but with a smooth water surface, Patrik Diethelm (Italy) once again delivered the top speed of the day with 48.77 kts! Utilising a 6.3m sail, Patrik feels that the World Record of 52.05 knots can definitely be improved with bigger equipment.

He will push his performance limits even further next year …

Thierry Bielak (France) the 90s legend, began the day with a leading speed of 46.69 kts, shortly pursued by his fellow team-mate Yann Coadic (France) who reached 46.31 kts, twice.

Martyn Ogier (UK) then pushed the bar higher with 46.91 kts.

Just after Thierry Bielak achieved his top speed of the day, the new Serbian Record Holder, Zoran Jovanovic, further improved his country’s record twice, and finally ending the day with a new Serbian Record of 40.31 kts.

The 2014 event’s closing ceremony will take place at the Lüderitz Nest Hotel’s fabulous Crayfish Bar & Lounge tomorrow, Saturday 01 November.

Until then…
