The World Ice and Snow Sailing Association (WISSA) is taking the competition to North America. Fond du Lac is located on the shores of Lake Winnebago, one of the largest lakes in the USA.
The spot offers the ideal blend of ice and snow conditions for daytime races. The contest will crown the best sailors in three classes: Sleds (handheld windsurfing sails), Kites (skis and snowboards) and Wings (wings, kite wings and skate sails).
The 2015 World Ice and Snow Sailing Championship will also include big air challenges, a massive bonfire on ice, an ice bar, entertainment and closing fireworks.
"The WISSA 2015 will be the 35th Annual Championship and is the longest running international racing venue in the history of windsurfing, hand held sails and kites," explains William Tuthill, president of WISSA.
There will be a Kite Cross competition in stronger winds, in which sailors must attend all three disciplines (speed GPS race, quick downwind, and freestyle race) in a circular mode.
