The 2014 AWT Hatteras Wave Jam, sponsored by Starboard, is just around the corner. September usually delivers great conditions with hurricane swells and coastal trade winds kicking in, transforming Cape Hatteras, North Carolina into a world-class wavesailing spot. Dream Team rider Kevin Pritchard, currently sitting in 2nd place of the 2014 AWT rankings is like a kid on Christmas morning in anticipation of the event start on September 15th.

"Hatteras is coming up this next week and should be a great event! The things I like best about Hatteras is the stoke of all the people there. There are so many people with so much stoke for the sport of windsurfing. There are 5 or 6 shops around town all amping at the chance to get out on the water.

The beaches here are pretty amazing and it is one of the last places on Earth, or at least in North America, where you can drive your cars on the beach. The usual routine is to go out on the beach and drive down along it until you see a nice sandbar and park it, rig up and go for it. There are so many nooks and crannies where the wind will switch to that perfect side-off shore direction, with some lined up beach breaks, it is just super fun!"

"Looks like we will be a pretty good event this year with some wind forecasted as of now. I usually never check forecasts for events because you are just going to be there so what difference does it make?
