2015 iSonic

The iSonics are fast racing machines designed for the highest top speeds, the highest average speeds, the quickest accelerations with powerful overtaking abilities through a wide wind range. The range itself is designed around the PWA’s three board format: a perfect quiver covering all conditions can be achieved by selecting one board most suitable from each of the iSonic’s three size-categories.

2015 marks the year where all iSonics follow the same slim compact design concept, even the high wind models that used to be longer and more classic.

For example, the iSonic 87 is thinner, shorter, and wider at the front footstrap level to the mast track. The planing area is narrower behind the back footstrap for a more tapered shape. A new rocker line is used for this size. The iSonic 90 is wider between the footstraps for more stability, but not wider overall since it already was in the compact shape concept. It is also slightly narrower planing surface behind the back straps. The double concave is replaced by a flat Vee. The iSonic 120 and iSonic 130 have seen their max widths stay the same; widths are increased between the straps but the planing surface is made narrower behind the back footstraps.

Overall, this new batch of boards which are wider between the straps but have a narrower planing surface behind the back strap offer a more tapered shape for a more stable and wide planing surface, with less drag. It also boosts early planing and accelerations.

2015 Slalom One

Birthday party? Club championship? Or just want to see who's the fastest slalom racer amongst your friends? New for 2015, the Slalom One packages are now available for rent, purchase or demo during Starboard's worldwide Slalom One weekend events.

The Slalom One package includes the iSonic 110 in a new Tufskin Reflex technology, for a stiffer, crispier feel, with improved flex compared to the standard Tufskin construction. The rigs are Starboard twin-cam FS One, available in 6.5m², 7.5m² and 8.5m² sizes. The package also comes with high performance Drake slalom fins: a Drake Ready to Race 38 for high-wind conditions and a Ready to Race 42 for light-wind racing.

2015 Futura

The Futuras are Starboard's freerace boards. Freerace boards are designed to go extremely fast, like slalom boards, but with more user-friendliness and more comfort; they are the sports cars of windsurfing.

For 2015, all Futuras have been upgraded once more, to more efficient, wider and slimmer shapes, following the iSonic development. The sizing denominations have adjusted accordingly: 90, 97, 104, 114, 124, 134. With improving control of these new shapes, larger widths can be handled in a wider wind range, thus Starboard introduces two new larger sizes: the Futuras 144 and 154.

These thinner profiles and wider widths improve the wind range even more as well as allow for earlier planing, quicker accelerations and higher top-end speeds with new levels of comfort and control. They also use the same rockerline as the iSonics, with no tail kick, to improve speed and lateral balance.

2015 Atom IQ

The Atom IQs are Starboard’s slim and thin freeride boards with the widest wind-range. As freemove boards, they are designed to be exciting and fast in the straight line yet highly maneuverable and aggressive with a widest wind-range and control. Efficient in light winds like a wide board 15 liters bigger, as maneuverable and controllable as a board with 15 liters less. "Plane big, jibe small." And with the right tuning, you get a wind range that covers three classic freeride boards.

For 2015, new sizes and a new technology are available. The Atom IQ 130, 140 and 160 models are added to the already existing Atom IQ 100, 110 and 120 models.

All Atom IQs are now also available in Tufskin AST construction, with the Atom IQ 160 Tufskin featuring an extra center fin box. Fitting this optional center fin gives the Atom IQ 160 extra upwind traction for progressing riders.

2015 Rio Long Tail

The Rio Long Tail is the next step in windsurfing shape evolution. It joins the Rio family of all-round entry level boards.

Based on the new 2015 Rio L with an added 30cm behind the fin, you get the same rock-solid stability, glide and ease of use as the Rio L plus a magical new sensation: glide from standstill to full planing with no resistance or any learning curve to overcome.

The Long Tail Concept is based on the idea that by adding waterline length to the board behind the fin and the back footstrap, the board gets planing more easily, more smoothly and requires less technique to get planing. With its extra length, it also glides 30% better and with improved longitudinal traction.

In full planing mode, because the length is not added to the nose, the board doesn't feel longer or harder to control: the length is in the tail, behind the back foot, where it doesn't affect the feel as much. Because the distance from the mast track to the tail fin remains the same, the board is just as easy to tack, jibe and rig-steer.

2015 WindSUP Inflatable

Starboard’s unique WindSUP Inflatables: reinventing the inflatable concept for windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. Lighter and tougher than traditional hard boards, these boards are seriously fun toys for the whole windsurfing/paddle boarding family as well as for schools and clubs.

They glide nicely, they’re safe because you can’t bump your head against them and they can be treated with minimal care. Drop them on the ground and they simply bounce! For boat owners and city-dwellers, this is the hassle-free board. They won’t damage your boat or apartment and deflated, they roll up into a compact bag.

Available in the Zen version: centre fin, 5" thick drop stitch construction, or Deluxe: daggerboard system, 6" thick for maximum stiffness.

The Zen construction now benefits from an additional 0.7mm 1000 denier polyester plain weave laminate that covers the 10,000 stitches per square meter drop-stitch material on the deck and bottom, making the hull extra strong and stiff. It also features a parabolic torsion band placed in the critical deck edge area, creating a curved edge and increasing stiffness with a minimal weight increase.

The Deluxe construction has a Pyramid double layer stringer on the deck's most compressive area for new levels of stiffness. The deck and bottom of the board is now reinforced with a light, high strength 0.52mm 1000 denier laminate over a uni-direction 8,000 stitches per square meter for optimum stiffness and extremely light weight. The 0.5 mm 500 denier polyester plain wave inside layer secures 100% air tightness.

All boards now come with a short Astro US box that helps roll up the board as tight as possible.
