RYA Training Centre, The Polkerris Beach Company in Cornwall finished its season on a high last Wednesday (09 November) when they received the Silver award for ‘Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year’ at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

For the second year in a row, in what was a competitive category, Polkerris Beach Company picked up the award for their outstanding windsurfing taster sessions and with windsurfing instructors such as Adam Lewis who ranked 17th at the last PWA wave event and George Shillito who finished 3rd Nationally in 2010, manager Bob Shillito commented: “it is no surprise that the centre just keeps growing from strength to strength.”

As well as it’s windsurfing tasters the judging panel also assessed the business as a whole and with rivals such as the St. Mellion International Resort and the world renowned Minack Theatre, Bob went on to say:  “It's very nice to know that we are up there with the best in Cornwall, as once again the region was voted 'Top Holiday Destination' at the British Travel Awards. Winning silver two years in a row is a huge pat on the back for the whole team.

“We look forward to welcoming many more water sports enthusiasts new and old next year!”
