PWA Fuerteventura: 3rd place for Pascal

You need to believe in your team, and give its members the time to build up. Training hard, working hard, accepting a mistake, or a bad season it's all part of the game, but if talent is there, is just a question of time.

Alberto Menegatti stays home from this last PWA event in Fuerteventura due to body injury, and straight away, our Pascal Toselli FRA 916 from the Point-7 Black Team, takes over the responsibility to show that the Point-7 AC-1zero14 fears no wind, and water condition, to bring a different rider again on to a podium.

Pascal Toselli 29years old has finished his studies 5 years ago, and decided to give it a go in the PWA full time racing career. From this first year of professional windsurfing, Pascal has had great highlights on the racing scene. The first one was to win one Defiwind race in over 45-50knots by giving over 2 minutes to the second competitor. From there he has been often top 10, but never won one elimination at the Pwa.

Now in the Fuerteventura PWA slalom 2014, after 8 full eliminations, Pascal Toselli won 3 looser finals, and 2 winner finals, finishing for first time on the PWA podium. Pascal was leading the ranking the first half of the event, but on the fourth day the pressure was too high and lost focus, which brought him 3° overall. At that level, with so many slalom elimination, it's not easy to keep the pressure, especially when you know that on your back you have a multi world champion waiting for you to make the first mistake.

We are proud of Pascal as he did a great job, we are proud that he has been with us supporting Point-7 for 5 years showing respect and team work. We knew his talent was there, we knew it was a matter of time that he had to put it together, and the moment looks like it has arrived. Well done!

INTERVIEW: Pascal Toselli

How does it feel to be first in the PWA ranking during the event? Do you feel pressure? It was very good to be ahead of the event that shows that it is possible to do and put a little confidence. but actually the pressure was indeed present.

image

Do you look at the ranking during the event, or you prefer not to look? Why?No. I tried not to look at the rankings to try to stay focus on the race, even though I knew a little about where I was ranked the goal was to make each round as if It was the first and make the best possible ..

image

When the heats are on the board, do you look who you have or you just race without caring who is in your heat? No. I do not watch especially this can only add to the pressure that the heat is difficult ..

image

What do you think changed this year from last year? You have a 6th and a 3rd after 3 events. From the beginning of the year when I got my new equipment I felt very well on and this is important.I also think that taking experience gives me a little confidence.I feel a little better manage the pressure that actually part of the race.

image

What is the hardest part of the racing? For me handle the pressure and long day waiting on the beach .. a fuerte we do not have this problems ..

image

What did you have that you did not have last events? In Turkmenistan I miss a minute of wind .. :)I think it does not play a big thing, sometimes a little click in the head..

image

From not winning a final, to winning 3 looser and 2 winner finals in less then 8 slalom. What do you think 1 minute before the start? One minute before the start I'm just trying to stay focused on the race.

image

What is your wish for this year and your goal?Do the best I can do not put pressure on myself, I just saw that it was possible to make very good results so my goal is to continue in this direction! my wish.. fininsh in the top 5

image

There were 4 french in top 4...why is this?Haha I do not know .. I think the french level is very high but we are much in proportion and that takes us up .. we also have very good conditions in France. especially in the south ..

image

Is there a change in the generation in the pwa slalom? Who goes in and who goes out in the top ranking places?Yes I think the new generation of slalom pushing very hard, as we see from the last year, but this is just the beginning of the season and as we all know little change very quickly and it should not be forgotten that the older generation is very strong! but it is true that young shoot!

image

Did you feel pressure from first Josh Angulo when he was on Point-7 and now from Alberto Menegatti? Both not here and BAAAM a podium? What do you say about this?In real No. I do not think I felt any pressure. I make mistakes the previous year but not compared to Alberto and Josh ..

image

Who would you like to dedicate this podium to?At my familly and people who support me for a few years .. but for my first podium especially my mom.

It was amazing for Point-7 again to have another Black Team rider to bring home such an important result. From winning the long distance of the Defi wind, to have Ricardo Campello getting second at the PWA wave in Pozo, and now Pascal Toselli for the first time on the PWA slalom podium at Fuerteventura. Vincent Langer, Bora Kozanoglu and Poyraz Akai getting on podiums in the Ifca World slalom Championship events in the different age groups. All in a very short time. This for us is proving that how we develop the gear directly and only with our Black Team, is a winning method for obtaining efficient gear and great results. We are proud to be supported and to support riders who are ready to fight to do more and put a lot of effort on development. Happy to invest in young riders like Maciek Rutkowski and Jordy Vonk, that our making their way up. Maciek also finishing 13th in Fuerte was a great result for his young age. I love our team spirit in the team, I'm proud of our Black Team. Keep pushing boys, lets all live our dreams!Andrea Cucchi
