The Gorge Cup Race Series is one of the most important windsurfing events in the USA. The best American Slalom windsurfers converged on the Hood River for another clash.
On the first day of races, Wylde had an average performance. He finished the day in fourth, with one bullet, and a couple of thirds.
"Sunday was an out of body experience for me. Every choice I made seemed to work. Every time I moved to a puff of wind, it was there. We did eight races, and I won five and was second in three," explains MacRae Wylde.
"My goal has always been to be competitive with the top sailors. To place in the top five is always a victory. Racing at this level means that one mistake can cost you three or four positions."
As a result, he ended up winning the Gorge Cup 2014. There are only two events left in the US Slalom calendar - the Hawaii State Championships and the Miami Slalom Open. The heat is on.
