Lightening quick blasting, super charged carving gybing and champagne breakfasts!
Wind, waves, sand, speed strips, massive shallow lagoon, tapas, champagne breakfasts, 4* Luxury Hotel, Caves, Ice Creams, BBQ's, mountain look outs and secret cafes! It has to be Fuertaventura!
It's been a few years since our last Windwise session in Fuertaventura and we certainly got a warm, windy welcome back. This time we based ourselves at the new Club Mistral towards the very west end of the beach. We selected a perfect week with higher tides through the middle of the day to ensure full use of the lagoon for as many hours as possible. As ever, we scored with wind, getting 6-7 days! We had a full range of conditions with the group using sails from 4.7's-5.9's. On one day we had a screamingly windy session where just about everyone was on sails below 4m! We had a really fun gang who worked super hard on the water and everyone made progress, including windsurfing honeymooners Jerry & Madga, we wish them both the very best!
Using our very specific WINDWISE coaching system, we went through the carefully selected skills to enhance faster and more controlled blasting, plus this course focused heavily on developing consistent gybes and how to attain that elusive planing exit. Fuerta can test you with the strong winds, but the flat water and the lagoon offers a welcome respite, so everyone was able to find conditions to suit their windsurfing ambitions.
Many of the the group also tried out the new Tushingham Bolt, which has been proving very popular with all level of windsurfers. Here's Maciej and Madga putting the 5m to very good use on the Starboard Kode 94L, a sweet combination!
Off the water, we ate incredibly well with fabulous Spanish Tortilla in the cafe for lunch and an endless evening buffett at the Melia Gorriones. Plus we had a champagne breakfast to finish the trip. At Windwise we always seek to add more adventures so we explored the island and found some stunning mountain viewing points, cool eateries and the amazing caves of Ajuy on the west coast.
I'd really like to thank Youness and his team at CM for making us feel so welcome and everyone who joined our amazing Windwise Freeride experience in Fuerta this year! Sign up NOW with Windwise for 2015!
