Here's a report from our recent trip to El Yaque
Amazing Windsurfing In El Yaque, Margarita
Whilst the UK was battered by storms in Jan-Feb, we were incredibly lucky to be in the uncrowded Caribbean windsurfing paradise of El Yaque in Margarita. With no-direct flight, it is a bit of a faff to get to, but the upside is that we had the place pretty much to ourselves! Well apart from Ricardo, Golito and the Margarita freestylers.
We used the Plant Windsurf centre, which was a great base, with a really fun crew and that chilled out windsurfing feel that Margarita is famous for. The water was deserted and we had wind every day! Amazing conditions, which was perfect for the WINDWISE team who were learning everything from better blasting, gybes, duck gybes and some upwind 360's in the straps. We did our usual trip to the Island of Coche getting just enough breeze to sample that table flat water. As ever, the social side off the water was really entertaining, with such a great mix of fun minded people! Eating out was so incredibly cheap due to the ever dropping value of the Bolivar! We had some stunning meals at Mobo's, Jean Luc's and of course at our amazing Hotel Atti!
It was a great trip, with a really fun, hard working group who made great progress. Thanks to all our hosts, Hotel Atti, Planet Windsurfing and most importantly to the WINDWISE clients who made it such a great trip!
