Back on the water… well sort of!

It’s been a funny trip in Oz this year..  well i say funny i mean strange!

Basically i’ve pretty much only sailed Gero!!  Which is crazy…  but every Gnaraloo forecast something has always come up right in the middle of the forecast (Picking justyna up from the airport/ Lancelin classic etc) which has meant i would only get a couple of days up there so wasn’t worth it…  and Esperance hasn’t really turned on yet.  I’m not complaining as i need to practice my jumps…

although i think due to all this practicing my jumps my back has said he doesn’t want to play any more and is taking time out!!

Pretty annoying as i haven’t had a problem with my back for a long while and forgot what its like…  well now i remember and i don’t like it! The Disk is pushing on the nerve so I’m getting pain all the way down in to my foot..  not nice i can tell you!

So i’ve spent the last 3 weeks not sailing..  and trying to get every treatment under the sun.. tablets, needles..

…massage, chiro, yoga and even bought a new mattress for the van! Justyna has even been chauffeuring me around… With me lying in the bed..  so its not all bad! haha..

Since the last Chiro Session with Matt Langer (cheers Matt) It’s calmed down a bit…  I also asked him if i could sail and he said

‘Yep, movement was good.. just take it easy’

Also i sailed ‘Sunset beach’ in Gero..  i probably shouldn’t have as my back was killing me but it looked kind of fun and a chance to go down the line… i couldn’t do much in the way of  turns but pumped out a few aerials..

not sure what made me think they would be better!  …probably the same thing that made me go for a goiter!!  But it was good for the brain as i made it back in and put a smile on my face!!

It’s quite a fun spot and actually reminded me of Capetown sunset beach (just less chop)..  even the blinding sun!!

So thats a quick update.. I’ve missed out loads of stuff..

Stef, pretty much ripping his foot off.

They managed to sew it back together.. just!

Lancelin Classic, I got beat by Ben Serverne again in the waves, only to be told the next day I actually beat him! (we were tied but i had the highest wave and jump score.. so i actually won)  But i’m not bitter! haha.. The prize money went behind the bar anyway!

I finished top 10 (9th) in the race…

and nearly killed myself as i hit the beach!

Oh yeah..  and finally beat Koster!! …ok ok..  it was in the race but they all count!

 

Justyna busting her rib after an hour on the water in Oz!!  Then did the race a week later.. borrowed a seat harness which then broke and had to finished without a harness..  and still got 3rd!!!

Since then I’ve managed to get her out on some proper Slalom gear…   she’s pretty quick!

Destructo Dave.. well..  just being destructive!!  Breaking a mast at green head (reef that is miles out) and me and Max had to rescue him!

Loads of other stuff just can’t remember them all…

errrr.. oh yeah..  got burnt!!

But I have done loads of tourist stuff (which i never do) as Justyna Dad came over (when i was out with my back) and we cruised with him down south.

Kangaroos, big rocks, rock bridges, big trees, horns and prawns..  I had a awesome time.. These pics are mainly for my mum.. in fact i’ll do a separate post..  here’s just a few snaps!  haha… 

 

 

Oh yeah and we caught a few solid waves at Wave Rock…  (i’ll do another separate post  for these as we have shit loads of pics! haha)

 

Ok..  i’m outta here.. I’m in the library and they are giving me funny looks!!  …maybe i should have a shave!! They say I’m scaring the kids..  and justyna for that matter!!  …to be fair it’s getting a bit out of hand!!
