Cape Hatteras, NC has been nominated as one of seven possible destinations for the 2012 Red Bull Storm Chase, which has just completed the first week of it's waiting period. If a huge storm hits Hatteras before November 30th then top pro riders from around the world (who were all nominated las month) will fly in to ride it! Three of the seven locations that receive force 10 storms (wind consistently over 55 mph) will be picked. The seven locations are:

• US East Coast, Hatteras
• Iceland, SW coast
• Ireland, NW coast
• Galicia, Spain
• Brittany, France
• Japan, SE coast
• Tasmania, NW Territory

Storm Riders: The 10 competitors in the 2012 Red Bull Storm Chase include: Victor Fernandez, Boujmaa Guilloul, Ricardo Campello, Robby Swift, Daniel Bruch, Thomas Traversa, Philip Koster, Julien Taboulet, Marcilio Browne and Kai Lenny.

Three Missions: With each storm the field of competitors will be narrowed down. All 10 windsurfers will compete in Mission One at the first storm location, after which the field will be narrowed down to six riders. Mission two will once again narrow down the group to four riders. Finally, these four will battle it out in the last storm to see who is the ultimate storm sailor!
