Christian Justesen snatches gold at the 2013 Formula Windsurfing Youth Worlds

Christian Justesen: he dreamed of a world title

Sixty nine competitors from 18 countries and three continents have registered for the Formula Windsurfing Junior Youth and Masters Worlds. The wind gods were not always in Austria, but new champions have been crowned.

"My dream came true! I have been dreaming about this for the last three years, since I won the World Championship Junior Slalom, in Hyeres, in 2010. It is an amazing feeling standing in the center of the podium, knowing that you are the best in the whole world", says Christian Justesen, the new Formula Windsurfing Youth world champion.

In the first day of competition, with marginal winds, races weren't run. Justesen got a really good chance to do some smaller adjustments on the batten tension on the sail to generate even more power, by adjusting the base a few millimeters.

The second day saw two races being completed in very light wind conditions. In the third day, winds blew between 10 to 20 knots, and windsurfers managed to do four races.

On the final day competitors arrived on site to find zero wind. A very light breeze drifting over the course was the best anyone could expect as the wind forecast was not looking good for the final day.
