Super-freaky waves ridden on SuperFreaks. Here at Hot Sails we love the wave season, and the bigger the better.
Long time SuperFreak riders, Seva and Alex from Russia have been going to Mauritus for many years, catching the beautiful waves at the famous surf spot “One Eye” on the south end of the Indian Ocean island. They always have someone take great photos of their exploits, but this year they hit the jackpot.
A serious storm was brewing in the southern Indian Ocean, and it was pointed right at the island. When the swell first hit, the whole channel was closing out for 3 days, and no one could even consider going out. Finally as the swell dropped “One Eye” opened and the boys were the first to hit it.
They got punished, but in between they had the rides of their lives, as seen from the images here. Giant perfection for windsurfing. Colorful Superfreaks make the photos even more dramatic as there is no problem to see them even in the largest waves.
Seva and Alex are back home now, with some strong memories to get them through some Russian winters.
