Fiona Wylde is the Gorge Windsurfer of the Year 2013

Fiona Wylde: all-round windsurfer girl

Born in Port Townsend, Washington, on the 18th February 1997, Fiona Wylde is one of the best windsurfing talents of her generation.

The young windsurfer has been sailing for 12 years and competing for seven years. Her first contest was the Gorge Cup Race, when she was only 11.

Wylde, a passionate Slalom and Wave rider, is a frequent passenger in the Hood River waters, but she has already tasted the powerful waves of Hookipa, in Hawaii.

Fiona Wylde took the Gorge Windsurfer of the Year 2013 award, as well as the "Most Stoked" trophy for inspiring others with her positive attitude.

"This has been an incredible season, that is not quite over yet. Thank you to each and every windsurfer for the continued support and positive encouragement! See you on the water!" says Wylde.

The 2013 Gorge Windsurfing Awards also honored Will and Roxanne McClure with "The Fred Nobel Golden Shovel Award", Alex Chadney as "Grom of the Year", and Whit Poor with "The Dale Cook Big Air Award".

Bruce Peterson took the trophy for the "Most Selfless Windsurfer", while Rhys Harriman, who has already passed away, was considered the "Most Stoked Windsurfer".

The Gorge Windsurfing Awards are hosted by the Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association.
