The weather conditions were rough, when a black Labrador was found swimming three miles from the Berkeley shoreline. Windsurfer Ed Coyne put her on his board, while other windsurfers asked for help. She was tired and shaking.
Adam Cohen, owner of an inflatable boat, stopped by and took the young dog to the Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital, where it was confirmed she had no identity chip.
The owners of the Labrador have not claimed the small puppy, but Cohen and his wife Lisa have decided to keep the dog. The Cohens nicknamed her "Richard Parker," after the tiger on the boat in the movie "Life of Pi".
"The windsurfers were the real heroes. They stayed in the water to make sure she stayed alive. I am certain that without their efforts, she wouldn't have made it", underlined Adam Cohen.
