The Funboard slalom racers are looking forward to build a more attractive windsurfing class to contest organizers, media, sponsors and spectators.
"We want to give our event organizers certainty that more races can be sailed, and sailed on schedule. A large number of important board manufacturers are developing slalom boards which are planning at 7 knots", explains Bruno De Wannemaeker, president of IFCA.
"We do not want to search for venues with just enough 7 knots of wind for organizing the IFCA Class Championships. We remain committed to our principles - we are the Funboard planing class, with the motto 'the more wind the better'", he adds.
Also, Funboard windsurfers want to change the rule which limits the number of boards and sails that they can bring to compete in IFCA events.
The final decisions will be made until October 2013, so that manufacturers can adapt to the new rules and be ready for the 2014 season.
