The Long Weekend

The Long Weekend

To say it’s been a perfect weekend would be an understatement, starting on Friday was a good start, then the weather man got the forecast wrong in our favour. We didn’t see a drop on that rain everyone was talking about and over the three days we had everything from flat calm idilic SUP conditions to a real blow today.

We took full advantage with a 5:30am start at Clacton, thought that was nearly ruined with new parking restrictions excluding van from our beaches but then who was going to notice at this time of day. When the tide returned we headed out from Brightlingsea, something I haven’t done for a year at least, chased my brother around in his boat until I get bored and took off up wind to see the guys on Mersea Island, called in at the windsurf club then up to the point to see Rusty Marshal. Areal name from the past but maybe that should be the future as he’s really enthused the kids, there’s a great bunch hooked on windsurfing thanks to Rusty.

Then it was back to Brightlingsea for a kite and cake. Shaun and Anthony were already out kitting and once that was done it was time for Julia to blow out her candles, I’ll leave you to guess her age as it’s rude to ask.
