A shot from Constantine  last weekend when the wind disappeared.

This weekends forecast was for WSW Saturday, then WNW Sunday, strong winds, increasing swell (13ft peak on West coast) and a bit of sunshine. Sounds good but the clues to 'not so good' were there, big spring tides and most of the options needing mid. 

I convinced Murray to drive down to. On route word came back that the Bluff was tiny and Maza not much better, so we headed for Harlyn. It looked epic! Cross off and head high and peeling really well for this place which is all too often a close out. There were millions of surfers in one corner and the bathing area in the middle, but luckily plenty of space at the far end. We launched and headed up the far end.. and so did a few dozen surfers. Game over. At least we managed a few waves and the odd air. If the beach had been empty we'd have had an epic one -roll on winter..

Murray bailed and I went down to Mexicos where the swell had now picked up..

upwind to the Bluff 

Took the pics before going out, everyone was a bit undercooked on 4.7s so rigged 5.0 which was happy days. Swell built and built until it was mast high and bit of a handful being cross on.

When the tide had dropped back I headed to the Bluff and sailed until gone 10pm. It wasn't great -big sucking mutant close outs on the sand bar, but kinda fun if a little lonely as everyone else had long gone. Over all a decent day though. Had a Chinese, drove to Leven, saw some big lines coming in, went to bed... 

Woke up and it looked pretty good, though the tide was too high. The wind had gone NW which was a result.

Went to Praa which looked decent and sailed with Steve and Matthew '5 oceans' Burridge. Ended up a bit on the light side. Went back to Leven, which was now flat. The North coast was pumpin all be it onshore, so had the bright idea of going back to Harlyn. Surely the 30mph cross to cross on wind would keep the numbers down?..   nope! game over again.

Walked the dog and headed back home early. Bit of a disaster, but you can never really complain after a sunny windy weekend in Kernow.

Had my first go on the HOT SAILS MAUI QU4D which the importers Lannaye and Anton lent me. Very bloody lovely, I'll be on those as soon as I get my hands on them. Best sail I've ever used by a long way -direct, light, compact and responsive. I loved the Firelights which were sweet but these just feel that bit sharper.
