I thought Id best join into the spirit even though I can’t win the competition or can I Ed?
This is a 2000 316 LWB Merc Sprinter and is used as my mobile NWF bus, often seen on the shore or Hayling and we call it the “Blank Panther”…. It stated life as a yucky yellow Sprinter van when we purchased the vehicle 4 years ago. The previous owner was very proud of its pale yellow exterior, even told me it was a limited edition colour, so you can imagine his face when he asked me what was first job on the conversion list? A respray….
As you can see we decided on Black hence the name Black Panther, not sure where that came from think Linda my wife christened it “Black Panther”. She looks pretty mean with its stainless bars, led lights alloy wheels o yeh a awning not sure that adds to the street cred mind ya… We added a tuning box to bring the 2.7 ltrs 5 cylinder engine into roaring life with about 190bhp, plus its cruse control. So no problems will hills as witnessed by our resent trip down to Defi Wind..
It’s not that hot off the lights sort of sprinter, due to her laden weight and low ratio triptronic box, however, with that amount of torque under the hood she is more of a fast thirty or slow economical motorway cruiser and that sound of the 5 cyl is awesome! Talking of sounds, think they call it ice, we have a Pioneer head unit with DVD linked into the iPod with about 45k songs with some 6 x 9s above ya head…..
She has a rather large shower compartment and living area plus eberspacher heater in order to keep my long haired colonel comfortable… Seats are all red & black leatherette which adds a nice bit of colour….With its black glass windows in order to keep it as dog friendly as possible.
There is 120 ltrs of fresh waters onboard and the hot water heats up from the engine so when you arrive at your destination you always have nice hot water. It also has a 120 watt solar panel, smev cooker, 12v fridge, TV & DVD, front swivel seats… The rear living area folds down into a kingsized bed which is situated below a large skylight, ideal look out point for checking the days conditions before venturing outside.
It has the normal LED lighting in the living area and must admit its pretty damn comfy.
Storage area is under the seats and accessed from the rear and holds 3 boards comfortably with sails from 4.2 to 8.6…. However the rear bullhead has a door through to living area and ideal for when you want to slide in your sups or additional boards, bikes etc….
I have been asked numerous times if I would like to sell it, but TBH why would I?
Ive just been told I have been disqualified for having too many pics and more than 300 words… Are well, I am sure there will be a worthy winner in the end…..
If you see it on the beach near you come and say hi
