With 46 competitors arriving from all over Australia and the world, the five relaxed races were a huge success. Jesper Vesterstrom, the former winner from Denmark, got the most out of the 15-25 knots of wind available at the contest site.
Vesterstrom won three races and finished ahead of Wilhelm Schurmann and Sean O'Brien. The Australian sailor battled most of the day with young Justesen, finishing with four third places.
Sunday looked more promising to have even stronger winds with the forecast showing strong wind warnings over 30 knots for the Hunter Coast area. Sadly, all the sailors were able to receive from the cyclone was torrential rain and racing was called off.
With the new 2013 rules, in which five races are allowed each day, with the race committee delivered the final results. Vesterstrom, who has recently become an Australian resident, had been training and preparing for the event and is ready to take on the official races.
