Essential Ingredients
1. A Fully loaded van: Firelights, rigging jacket, a timing watch, a naughty dog, a dry bed, and 'HOT' tea making facilities.
2. The Girls: 11 chicks ready to rip it up whatever the conditions and sail the best they can!
3. A Support Team: A 'HOT' caddy (Leky a.ka. HSM team rider Aleksy Gayda) and good people to have a laugh with!
Debbie enjoying the port tack (like home) conditions
Great to see so many girls competing in the UK!
Basic Method
Stir up a few practise waves adjusting to local temperature settings, add some tasty food and a few tipples of whisky, next sprinkle in a few rocking tunes on the way to the beach, immediately prepare the Firelights and then pre-heat with a dog walk. Allow to simmer for a couple of heats before finally spotting the winning set wave!!!!
Big thanks to all the event organisers, Monica at the Hynish Centre, Chris Freeman at Hot Sails Maui and all the people who support me and my sailing.
Always good to have a caddy, great to see the team working together, this is Aleksy having fun but there was no official competition for the Pro Men.
The perfect team!
Checking the surf
"I have been sailing with Debbie since I was 9 years old some 26 years ago, in fact if it wasn't for her and her family's support during those early years I doubt I would be where I am today. It really is great to see Debbie winning while I am on the other side of the world and throughout the AWT I will have one eye on the UK and thinking of Cornwall! Good Luck my great friend, sending you wind and waves from Hawaii, go big and I will try to do the same!" Chris Freeman, Sales Manager, Hot Sails Maui.
