Greeks love windsurfing and despite the economic and financial crisis, the Go!Globo Slalom World Championships got underway and boosted the popularity of the Funboard class.
The Argentinian windsurfer combined his experienced with a good pick of sails and boards.
"I am very happy to take the victory in Paros and to become a Slalom world champion in 2012! Of course, it was a very different event, as we were racing with rules. Two boards and four sails only, and less top guys. More a 'mano a mano' race type", explains Hoevel.
"My speed was very good on both gusty offshore middle winds and onshore swell. Both the 113 and 140 boards covered the range of winds perfectly, plus my 6.3 to 8.6 Warps did a perfect work. It gives me a shot of confidence for the following two events: the Austrian Nationals and PWA Sylt".
Gonzalo Costa Hoevel finished the 2012 IFCA Slalom World Championships in the first place, ahead of Bora Kozanoglu and Andrea Rosatti.
