Windsurfers still are the fastest!

Windsurfers still are the fastest!Sebastian Kornum won the prestigious WaterZ Downwind Race this weekend. With around 200 windsurfers and 100 kiters from 6 nations competing against each other, Sebastian stole the show on his RS:Racing EVO IV 8.6 sail and the JP Slalom 78 board.

Sebastian commented after the race: “It felt unreal when I crossed the finish line in front of such a big fleet of windsurfers and kiters. I had never expected to win the race, as I did not spend much time on slalom this year but my boards are just super easy and it took me no time to find the right feeling and trim. A couple of kiters were faster on the first leg which was quite deep, but a few other windsurfers and I were a lot faster on the following legs. It was fun to compete against kiters and a great feeling to prove that windsurfers still are the fastest! We had 18-20 knots of wind and the sun was out. It was a pleasure to see so many happy wind-fanatics having fun together and I am sure that this event has had a lot of good influence on our sports.”

The WaterZ event is by far the biggest in Scandinavia and there is a lot of prestige behind it. More than 5000 people visited the event during the weekend to watch all kinds of watersport action such as SUP-race, Kite freestyle, cable park freestyle and much more. On top of his win, Sebastian finished 2nd in the SUP-race and 2nd in the Danish Slalom Nationals at the same event and is now preparing for the PWA World Cup at his home spot in Klitmøller.
