In the last day of competition, drama emerged from the North European waters. Collisions, equipment damage and physical injury, intermingled with the highs and lows of winning and losing.
Arnon Dagan was really unlucky. A damaged fin brought a DNF and a badly cut foot and hand made the rest. He continued to race and even posted a 5th place in the final race of the day.
A collision also put an end to another Wojtek Brzozowski's hopes of another world championship title. John Kaju was having a great regatta until he suffered an injury that surely affected his racing. Jesper Vesterstrom suffered from a returning elbow injury that has plagued his career.
So what about the highs? Consistency wins medals. Steve Allen and Przemyslaw Miarczynski took second and third in the final podium. Sebastian Kornum, 2011 FW Youth world champion, placed ninth in the ransition to senior level.
The top ten is completed by Casper Bouman, who returned to true form with two second places in the second session. Ross Williams, of course, led four races from start to finish, in the last day.
Agnieszka Pietrasik, the windsurfer from Poland, secured the Women's world title followed by Maja Dziarnowska and Agnieszka Bilska.
