I think a few of the opinionated old gits on the forum had moved on. That and the collapse of the mag and the old editorial team. Dave White did as good a job as possible with the resources but one of the benefits of the previous regime was the reviews of kit that were tested, analysed and measured to the nearest micron. It gave ammunition for threads. Blimey, a harness line thread could go on for 20 pages or more and you only had to get to the second page before the handbags came out. The toe-in boys were making a good effort although even they've been quiet of late.
