The operation seemed to go well yesterday and I've now had all of the metalwork removed. Apparently it took about 90 minutes which is longer than I expected though.
My ankle is sore and aches a bit but that's probably to be expected. If it wasn't uncomfortable, I wouldn't be able to take time off work with a clean conscience (I have got a 14 day sick note from the surgeon).
I'll probably come down next Thursday (7th June) to watch the racing, if I can scrounge a lift.
