Definitely go, Erik. I'd go there again even if I didn't windsurf. It's a lovely village, with no roads - just sand, lots of little restaurants, lots of sand, little pousadas everywhere, sand, and so on. Apparently there's a rocking night life but I was always asleep by midnight as I was knackered. The sea isn't as brown as in my photos. When I went I took my thirty year old camera and took several rolls of film. When I got them back from processing (this was pre-digital) they were horrible, washed out and grainy. I discovered that the foam the seals that camera against light had turned to goo, probably a combination of age and heat. It's very hot there (3 degrees south of the equator). Anyway a bit of photoshopping has recovered some of the photos but here it has produced a sort of sepia effect. The sea is not crystal clear but then it is windy and the sand gets churned up.

The waves are biggest in November and December so you'll find it flatter.

I got a flight for 600 odd quid then booked with pousada vila bela vista www.vilabelavista.com/en/vilabelavista.html who sorted out the transfer for me. There are lots of other pousadas.
